The Gamecocks are headed up to Tennessee looking for their first league win of the season and their 100th since joining the SEC in 1992. They will also be out to snap an 8 game SEC losing streak. The offense continues to be a work in progress while the defense continues to impress. Wednesday offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield and defensive coordinator Clayton White met with the media to talk more directly about their respective units.

Tennessee likes to go fast on offense, like 78 plays per game fast. There’s one simple way South Carolina will try to combat that on Saturday.

Understand what’s going on. Understand the situation. Understand what’s going on with Tennessee and how they run their offense. That’s really the main thing. You have to change the mindset, post-play. Volunteers are tied for 16th in plays per game. They're fourth in the SEC in total offense (474.4 yards per game) and ninth in yards per play (6.26). Their 255-yard rushing average is second in the league.

OC Marcus Satterfield said as Luke Doty's foot gets better, they'll have him more under center as well as in the pistol and the shotgun.

I like our 2 coordinators, their attitudes and knowledge of the game has to be a plus for the team.  Hope White has the D ready for the tempo.  Sounds like it's been a point of emphasis.  Biggest concern on O has to be Doty's foot injury.  Obviously worse than everyone 1st thought.  Going to need to put up points this weekend,  and it not just on O line improvement. Time will tell.  Signature win here would be a start.

They said on 107.5 today that UT has run 60+ more offensive plays than us so far this season and they correctly pointed out that's essentially an entire game's worth more plays.

A simple broken bone requires a cast for about 6 weeks and Doty's been gimpy for a lot longer than that.  It makes me think he may need surgery in the off-season if he doesn't get better in the next few weeks.

Going off of Satt's other comments, though, overall inconsistency on offense is still a probably and that's not necessarily related to Doty's injury.

Noland has a strong, accurate arm and he can definitely get under center, unless he still has problems with his injured throwing hand.

I mean, the honeymoon's over.  We should have a Plan B at QB by now if Doty remains gimpy.  Any competent SEC DC will go after Doty to exploit a perceived weakness.
