The nation's top junior college defensive end 4 star Marquavius Lewis The 6-foot-4, 271-pound(Hutchinson, Kan./Hutchinson C.C.) isn't naming any leaders at this time, but does know for sure of visits to South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, Florida and Southern California.
Marquavius Lewis claims offers from all five, except for the Trojans, who are showing heavy interest. Lewis saw coaches from South Carolina, Auburn, USC and Florida visit him in the last week.
South Carolina linebackers coach Kirk Botkin and defensive line coach Deke Adams visited Lewis last Tuesday.
"It was more of them just telling me how they want me back in SC," Lewis said. "They were letting me know that their program is about family, coach (Steve) Spurrier takes care of his players and how players from Greenwood had come there and been successful."
Lewis says both Botkin and Adams have been recruiting him for the Gamecocks.
"Coach Botkin is pretty funny. He's a cool guy," Lewis said. "Coach Adams, he seems cool as well. He tells me that he wants to be a father-figure just as well as a coach and that speaks out a lot."
Lewis wasn't recruited by the Gamecocks out of high school, but did pay attention to the program growing up. He will be home in Greenwood from May 8-June 1 and plans to take an unofficial visit during that time period.
"It's been more of a family thing for the past couple of years," Lewis said. "Players from Greenwood have been there and have been successful there, like D.J. Swearinger and Kelcy Quarles
