Whew! Had to have that one to keep our NCAA tournament chances alive.
We deserved to lose because we really played tight. It did not help that the refs called the game close, which is bad for us because we play aggressive D. Plus, we suck at FT shooting. Hopefully we can get our guys re-focused for Bama.
But....how about Frink and McCreary? Anybody predict that they would reach double digits in scoring - in the First Half?
How about adding THIS year's UNC team to our schedule? (Hahahaha).Official attendance was 11,613 and I think it would have been 14-15K if the game had been on a Saturday instead of a Wednesday.
There was plenty of energy from the crowd last night. You have to think there would be 15K for the Saturday games if we were consistently winning and the OOC opponents were more well known and/or tied to the heyday of the program under McGuire. I would like to see a couple of ACC schools on the schedule next year, but I doubt it will happen.
I have wondered the same myself.Where did last night's version of Frink come from? Both he and McCreary played well above their seasonal play for the GA game, and was needed. I remember at least 3 "and 1" plays by Frink. Kotsar had the high-low pass working. It was a good thing we dominated the paint because we couldn't hit the broad side of the barn from beyond the 3 line. What has happened to Bolden since the VA game? If we could get some consistent outside shooting to go with the current paint game...we would be a pretty decent offensive team.
Gary is right about our defensive efforts against the dribble drive...we are struggling. For the remaining games on the schedule, we can not afford early foul trouble from Cousinard, because we just don't have the quality point guard help there. It would have been really nice if Seventh had qualified this year.
Go Cocks! Beat Bama, Ms State, and Vandy!
Frink has always been good in the post offensively. His problem has been on defense. I want to see him be more consistent on both ends of the floor. Both he and McCreary have had games where they showed their potential during Minaya's absence.Where did last night's version of Frink come from?
