MBB USC (7-4/15-9) vs TENNESSEE (6-5/14-10) Game Thread ***

hell of a win, good to see bryant make a game saving play with the charge after his inexcusable mistake.  we just won a game where no starter shot over 40%.  as critical as i was of bryant for that wtf pass he made, he was credited was 2 steals 3 blocks and came up with the game saving charge.  i can accept making a mistake or two with the ball in your hands as long as youre making up for it on the other end.

Wow, don't know how to describe this game. We spend the entire game missing free throws, and we then hit our last 6 in a row - 4 in a row by Kotsar, the guy that once shot under 50% at the line - and Lawson finally decided to wake up and hit a 3-pointer. And just like that we win the game. It's totally crazy.....

I thought the game was lost.  So glad I was wrong!    Very, very proud of Kotsar.  Clutch FT.   Amazing.

Bottom line, SC made the plays at the end to win it.  It shows a degree of toughness -- Kotsar is without a doubt the heart and soul of this team.

Mississippi State will be a tough place to win at next game, they are 11-2 at home.

Apparently word from Coach Martin on McCreary was he got hit in the head late in the 1st half, and the training staff put him through some concussion protocols. Don't know if Jalyn is actually concussed, but he must be for them to not let him play in the 2nd half......

If you told me at the beginning of the season that Kotsar would go 4-4 from the line in the last minute to ice a close game, I'd have bet the house against that happening. He's done a great job the last few weeks at the line though. Something like 24-29 (83%) the last 5 games.

Went to the game.

The place was packed and it felt like a Super Bowl game or something.  It was a great game and had the same vibe as the Michigan game during the 2016-17 season, which we also won. The crowd was great and into it the whole game.

Fulkerson was eating our lunch in the paint and I felt like we would win if we could just shut him down late in the game.  I agree with the comments about the turnovers and missed FTs, but I also feel we won the game because we consistently tried to penetrate UT's defense instead of settling for jumpers.

All it took for us to lose this game was to miss a few 3-pointers that would give UT some easy points down on the other end of the court.  Our defense was awesome the whole game.

That Fulkerson kid has game and the general feeling was we had to shut him down to win the game, all other things being equal, which is what Kotsar did the last two minutes.  The other good thing is the team communicated on court the whole game.  I started going to the games during league play in the 2013-14 season and this is the best-looking February team Frank's had since he's been here.

You could also tell that Rick Barnes is struggling to fill the void left by Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield this season.

Great game and great crowd.

IMO, South Carolina and UT have the best defenses in the SEC.    UT's defense is why we had so much trouble scoring against them.   I hope we don't have to play them again this season.    I don't think any team left on our schedule will play defense as well as UT, so that hopefully means it will be somewhat easier for us to score.

The first possession of the game for UT, Frink and Kotsar both popped Fulkerson in the face going up for the rebound.

They did it at exactly the same time and I believe that's why nothing was called.

I thought the next fouls on Frink were make-up calls for the earlier non-call, even though there was no malice on his or Kotsar's part for the non-call.

Frank gave the refs an earful on the sidelines and I think that's why Frank made the comments he did in the presser.

Frink barely touched the other guy on at least two of the calls that I could see.
