USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. was not able to get 3 star DE Blake McClain 6'4" 280lbs of Jacksonville, FL to switch his visit this weekend to USC from Nebraska, but he was able to convince him to hold off on making a decision until after visiting USC. So, McClain said Thursday night he will take his official visit to Nebraska this weekend and will visit USC after Signing Day. That visit will be either the first or second weekend in February. Spurrier Jr. rushed down to Jacksonville Thursday afternoon to meet with McClain who had decommitted from Florida State Wednesday. Nebraska was in on Wednesday and was able to nail down this weekend's visit. But Spurrier Jr. was able to meet with McClain at school and at his home Thursday night and laid out for him the Gamecock's situation at defensive end as well as some other selling points of the school and program. "He said the support you get from the academic center is incredible and they make sure you don't fail. The only way you fail out of their school is if you don't show up to class." McClain's official visit to USC will be his first visit to the school. He said he's 50-50 between the schools. He will visit Nebraska this weekend by himself.

McClain getting full rush from Spurrier Jr.

Freshly decommitted DE Blake McClain of Jacksonville, FL met this afternoon at his school with USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. and will entertain the coach in his house Thursday night for a family gathering.
 
"It was real good, we had a nice long talk," McClain said of this afternoon's meeting. "He talked about how they lost their starting defensive ends and they are looking to sign two defensive ends and I could fit right in with their defense."
 
McClain is scheduled for an official visit to Nebraska this weekend and he will take that trip. He's never visited USC and it would be tough to get in before the dead period hits midnight Sunday.
 
And he has limited knowledge about the Gamecocks right now.
 
"I know their defense is pretty much incredible and I like how they run their 4-3," he said.
 
McClain said right now his decision is between USC and Nebraska and he has no lean.
