Michigan makes moves on Damon Arnette
Jan. 19, 2015
South Carolina cornerback commit Damon Arnette (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) said Michigan moved up to his "number two" school following this weekend's official visit.
"My favorite part was the weather," Arnette said of Michigan. "I liked its a lot. I loved the snow."
Arnette still plans to officially visit South Carolina this weekend and Ohio State January 30.
"I'm still committed to South Carolina," Arnette said. "That may or may not change after my last visit."
The Crystal Ball reads 92-percent for South Carolina, four-percent for Ohio State and four-percent for Michigan.
New Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff made a big impression.
"Man I loved it a lot there," Arnette said. "Their coaching staff has so much NFL experience. Them wanting me so much means a lot. Plus the education part. They've got it."
Arnette said he went bowling and had dinner Friday night.
He said he hung out with his player-host, cornerback Jabril Peppers, Saturday.
Arnette met with Harbaugh in his office for an exit interview.
"He said that he loves my talent level," Arnette said. "He said they can teach me the technique and can turn me into something great."
Arnette stays in touch with his recruiter for the Gamecocks, cornerbacks coach Grady Brown.
"I have a great relationship with a lot of guys on that staff," Arnette said of South Carolina. "I still like them a lot. I want to see if I feel the same way about them as I do about Michigan after my visit."
Arnette talks to Ohio State Co-Defensive Coordinator Chris Ash.
"First off it's Ohio State," Arnette said. "It's big-time that they want me. Anything they are saying I'm listening. They just won a National Championship. (Former Buckeye) Cris Carter is one of our coaches and he's on my side. He's been telling me about them."
