Minnesota graduate transfer defensive end Gaelin Elmore (6-6, 275) has rescheduled his official visit to South Carolina.
Instead of visiting with the Gamecocks next weekend, Elmore will arrive to Columbia on Sunday and stay through Tuesday. East Carolina will host him for an official visit April 21-23.
South Carolina coach Will Muschamp offered on Friday, after Elmore was granted his release from Minnesota.
“They’re going to recruit me as hard as possible to get me down there and (Muschamp) just kind of showed me how I fit into their program and what they have now,” Elmore recently told SEC Country. “It was a good conversation.”
Elmore started six of the 13 games he appeared in last season, finishing with 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
South Carolina makes the top 10
Five-star defensive end K.J. Henry (6-5.5, 235) visited South Carolina last Saturday for the spring game, so it comes as no surprise that the Gamecocks made his top 10 list, which was released on Wednesday night.
Henry, who’s from Clemmons, N.C., also included Alabama, Clemson and Georgia. According to the 247Sports composite, he’s the No. 2 weak-side defensive end in the class of 2018.
His father is an assistant coach at Charlotte, another one 10 favorites.
JUCO offer
South Carolina offered junior college defensive end Dorian Gerald (6-3, 250) on Wednesday afternoon.
The sophomore from College of the Canyons in California graduated from West Florence (S.C.) High School in 2015 before spending a post-grad year at a prep school in Columbia.
After wrapping up his JUCO stop, Gerald will have three years to play two seasons.
“Anywhere I can go and (they) need me, not just wants – they need me to come in and play and I have a chance to come in and compete for a starting position – that’s where I’ll be going,” Gerald said.
He has no leader and he’s open to all suitors – Arizona State, Tennessee, Syracuse and Washington State have also offered. However, one of his two offers on Wednesday — Tennessee followed South Carolina — has his eye.
“My home wants me to come back home,” Gerald said. “That’s huge.”
Decision date
Long-time linebacker/defensive end target Eli Adams tweeted on Wednesday that he will announce a commitment on July 23.
Adams (6-0, 230) has offers from East Carolina, Maryland, N.C. State and South Carolina. It’s 50/50 between the Gamecocks and Wolfpack, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
His last confirmed visit to South Carolina was in February for junior day/spring practice.
