Muschamp chats with rising 2017 cornerback

Three-star cornerback Tancey Richardson visited South Carolina on Sunday, a few days after co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon stopped by South Aiken High School.
Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson served as the on-campus host for the 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect from Aiken, S.C.
“We just talked about all the DBs that are graduating,” Richardson said. “He said eight seniors or 10 seniors are DBs. He said if I come there, I could get some valuable minutes. We just talked about them recruiting me.”
Will Muschamp was out of town, so Richardson didn’t get any face time with the Gamecocks’ coach on Sunday. But he was told on Monday to give Muschamp a call.
“(Muschamp) said that he really loved my film, loved that I got after it and that I could play so many different positions,” Richardson said. “He likes the talent that I have and he wants to see me in person. He wants me to camp up at South Carolina.”
And that’s the plan. Richardson will return to South Carolina sometime next month for one of the on-campus sessions.
His most recent trip to Columbia, S.C., was productive, even though the Gamecocks weren’t added to the offer sheet.
“I saw the new indoor facility that they’re rebuilding,” Richardson said. “The field, they put new turf down, so when I saw the field, it was just dirt. The inside of the locker room, they’re building new facilities for the players. It was nice that they’re actually getting it rebuilt.”
Mississippi State, Colorado State, Coastal Carolina and Southern Miss have offered Richardson, while Wake Forest stopped by South Aiken on Monday.
As a junior, Richardson racked up more than 2,000 all-purpose yards and scored 24 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he had 55 tackles and five interceptions.
