The nation's top-ranked junior college prospect, defensive end, Jonathan Kongbo (Arizona Western), picked up a scholarship offer from South Carolina this past week.
His reaction was a positive one.
"(Former Gamecocks and current Houston Texans defensive end) Jadeveon Clowney is a player that I try to mold my game like," Kongbo said. "So it's a blessing. I am real excited."
Kongbo committed to Tennessee on Nov. 29 following a weekend official visit to Knoxville. He is scheduled to officially visit Alabama on the weekend of Jan. 15 and has one more official visit open (Oregon State and Ole Miss also have gotten visits).
It is possible that the 6-foot-6, 264-pounder uses his final visit for a trip to Columbia and if so, the Gamecocks will do their best to flip him from their SEC East rivals. If he does not elect to visit South Carolina, obviously the Gamecocks have little to no chance here.
