Negative comments do hurt recruiting

For fans, though, a commitment can feel more like a marriage, at least when it's to their school, and an easy exit is rarely in the cards. Key's decommitment was the latest in a long string for the Gamecocks, and several people vented their frustration toward Key on social media.

"They called Arden all types of things," said Antoine Wilder, a teammate of Key's at Hapeville Charter and a South Carolina commitment. "Most of the fans are rude and nasty. My thing is, you really want him to come to the school? (The decommitment) doesn't mean he can't come, but if y'all are throwing those negative vibes at him, he's not going to feel welcome there. That's not helping at all."

Well sure they do, like expected. But I think we will do fine with recruiting, we just need a few top hits

I love Arden Key. It's so nice of him to take a spot off our recruiting board so we can't go recruit other players and then continue shopping himself around only to decommit toward the end of the process after all the more mature young adults have already made their rock solid commitments. 

In other words, I don't want Arden Key. He is trouble. He's a prima dona. He's going to want special treatment, he has no respect for his teammates and coaches, and he only cares about himself. Dump the rat. If he can't see how his treatment has hurt us then nothing said on a public message board is going to affect him. He's a brat and he has used us by taking our scholarship as his ace in the hole while he looked for other opportunities. We have other recruits like Blacksheare who have been steadfast and forthright during the whole process while that brat has flip flopped all over the place just to call attention to himself.
