New Jersey TE Elijah McAllister to visit USC and Clemson this week

TE Elijah McAllister (6-6 230) of Rumson, NJ is coming to the state of South Carolina the end of this week hoping to drum up interest from USC and Clemson. He has ties to both schools. A good friend attends USC and his uncle, who lives in Columbia, is a die-hard Clemson fan and attends most of the home games. McAllister would love to add offers from one or both his list.
Michigan State, Tennessee, Boston College and Maryland are the four schools he’s most interested in at this point but he’s kept USC on his board because of his contacts and how they use the tight end.
“They use the tight end very well with (Hayden) Hurst and (KC) Crosby,” McAllister said. “That’s big to me. When you can use two or three different tight ends, and they have different skill sets, that’s big for me.”
McAllister said USC wanted him to camp Friday but he’s going to Auburn that day for a camp. He will come to USC Saturday and will work out for the coaches if asked. He has been in touch with assistant director of player personnel Logan Hall about the visit.
McAllister also will visit Clemson Saturday and he will also get to Georgia, North Carolina and NC State while on his visit to the Southeast. He’s not had much contact from Clemson at this point.
“I know they already have a tight end committed so I don’t know if they are taking two or not,” he said. “If they are not, we’ll go visit and see how it is. If they are, then we’ll continue to talk. I’m just excited to get down south. SEC or ACC is somewhere I could see myself playing. And Clemson had Jordan Leggett and Dabo uses the tight end well. They definitely incorporate tight ends into their offense.”
McAllister also is a basketball player so he brings a lot of athleticism to the position.
“I use my body well,” he said. “I’m a big, big target. I like when quarterbacks throw it up and look for me to make a play.” McAllister said he can also play defensive end.
He wants to see how this trip goes, and if it results in any offers, to decide on when he will commit. If he gets more offers, the decision could come in August, if not, then after the season.
