Maryland with Under Armour is offering to make Harbor one of the faces of their track and field division as part of Maryland's recruiting pitch. Just so we all what the staff is up against. if this is truth to power Gamecks Under Armour deal must be terminated ASAP. Lloyd the tree seems where they are heading. We need to stop the bellyaching cause we all have a hand in this we need to tally up and give money to JOIN GARNET TRUST or CAROLINA RISE: Team and program truly need our help! Time to rally and support.

Many of us saw this coming once that door was opened. It is what it is. While we can all give a little money it will not compare to the money a huge corporate booster who is all in on a winning program. The game has changed and I don't think you can put the genie back in the bottle now so programs with a big money booster will get the best athletes and the rest will have good seasons and then runs of mediocre to bad seasons. The tenure of coaches is going to drop as fan bases get crazier and unless they land at a school pumping huge NIL deals to athletes they will not have any long term success at any school. If a school does a good job in evaluations and finds great athletes like our staff has done the big money teams will steal them away at some point. It was a good run, but college football is now just another version of professional sports minus any kind of structure ie salary caps, drafts etc. that keep things at a competitive level. Also curious if Lloyd does end up at Maryland, when did they start talking with him?

You are right about everything you said. Very hard for me to be a college sports fan now. This is not fun and especially to cover. Watching greed go to the next level. I can under and fans' anger. Hay I am on a fixed income living by SS only and it is not much to have to stretch out every buck to get all the bills paid by the month. So I do understand, and this game is really getting to be a rich man's game and people like me are on the way out. That's life.

Just want to add no hate here for Bell and Lloyd just doing what they feel is best for them. Wish them the best and respect their decisions. GO COCKS!! Respect and let us see how our new OC will do give him a chance! Great character that's a good start for me. Dowell Loggains Welcome aboard to GAMECOCK NATION!!

I will be the contrarian here and say that any type of organization has its share of transient folks that don't stay for one reason or another.

Most athletes are not selfish as many of the public generalizations regarding NIL imply.

Money has never been a problem for us; our performance issues have been equally in part to poor leadership and management.

The Aggies supposedly had the best players money can buy this year, but they are dead last in the West. That's what smokin' weed in our locker room got them.

Folks want to call college sports a business. The reality in any business organization is there is a core group of stable employees that holds things together most of the time.

Most business fix the individual issues and keep moving forward. A program that constantly blames poor performance on NIL probably needs some leadership and management changes.

The NIL just took the crookedness from the NCAA, they can no longer throw the book at us while helping bama write thiers.

This had created a new dynamic for Oregon, Phil Knight(Nike) and Maryland, Kevin Plank(Under Armour) that is going to start rearing its ugly head. I'm not sure it will help as it creates division and little continuity, the teams that try too hard, ie. Texas A&M will have boosters, entitled fans and spoiled, entitled athletes that will be almost impossible to manage in my opinion.

The folks that go on business as usual, bama will keep continuity and continue to prosper and a select few, I hoped us will get on the train but politics and entitlement can derail all that quick!

Timing is everything and ours sucks, we had great continuity with Coach Martin and blew that up. We seem to be trying to do the same thing to Coach Beamer, we should be trying to keep this staff for 4 years minimum.

The NIL creates a new dynamic in college athletics, it creates defacto leaders based on NIL money, it creates an entitled athlete that was once hungry, it creates division by subtraction from NIL money, it also puts more on an already full plate for the superstar athlete and Coach. It will also create even more entitled fans who will have shorter leashes and want more heads to roll because he/she thinks they can buy a title!
