Sounds like NIL is getting worse.
What that UT QB did is just ridiculous. Just played so-so last season and wants more money. He sat out their practice Friday and left the team Friday night when he did not get more money offered. Supposedly he made $2 million his redshirt season and would make 2.2 this year.
As far as the settlement deal, it is still being litigated. Sounds like come July 1, every university will have to pay $20 million per year spread out among all the players. But there will still be players getting NIL deals. That is never going away. They are just trying to figure out if there is any way to limit those deals. I think just like the pros, they should have a CAP. But I doubt they will ever figure out a way to enforce anything.

It never ends, it's never enough. (you think this is bad just wait until they form a union)

I can almost understand part of it. The Universities are making millions off of them. Most of that from TV revenue.
They want a piece of that. Sadly, most want way more than they should be able to get. They forget the university is saving them over $100,000 with the scholarship, and giving them all that free food, and free room and board. They forget without them being on TV, they probably would not even get drafted.
I just hope that they are having to pay income tax.

If all coaches were to get tired of the head cases and recruit the emotionally stable athletes at the same time, then wouldn't it go back to being a level playing field?

I generally believe that's where college athletics is headed in another year.
