"It was very welcoming, a great town," Banks said of South Carolina. "The coaches showed a lot of love, the players showed a lot of love. The food was great. The facilities were great too. The coaching staff is one of a kind."
Banks, who was committed at North Carolina until Monday, chose the Gamecocks over offers from the Tar Heels and Alabama among many others.
"I'm excited," he said on Wednesday. "The atmosphere was what made me want to go there. We've got something special coming."
Banks was recruited by co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon.
Banks was hosted on his recruiting trip by rising junior linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams.
