OL Patrick Allen note

Jan. 06, 2015

Four-star offensive tackle Patrick Allen (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin), who recently decommitted from Georgia, said that he likes South Carolina and it is one of the schools he’s going to consider between now and signing day.

The Gamecocks actually offered Allen, who had been wavering in his pledge to the Bulldogs, the day before the 6-foot-5, 286-pounder actually opened his recruitment again. Allen was reconsidering his commitment after the departure of Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and offensive line coach Will Friend.

Since the offer, Allen has been in touch with South Carolina recruiter G.A. Mangus and offensive line coach Shawn Elliott on multiple occasions, with the most recent phone call coming Monday night.

It’s obviously going to be big to get Allen down to campus on a visit. Since he’s used his five official visits already, Allen would have to make the drive down from Maryland himself on his own dime but it’s something he’s currently trying to set up. Right now, there’s not a date to report, only he has expressed the desire to come visit. He’s just got to make the time.

Four-star wide receiver commitment Jalen Christian (Damascus, Md./Damascus) has also been in Allen’s ear recently about the Gamecocks and has helped the staff recruit. While South Carolina are not the favorites right now, Allen is strongly considering the Gamecocks and if a visit materializes, chances will increase.
