OL Will Putnam of Harrisburg, NC visited Virginia Tech Thursday with his mother and now has the Hokies and USC tied at the top again. After attending USC’s camp Saturday, Putnam said he favored the Gamecocks.
But the trip to Blacksburg to give his mother a closer look evened things again.
“She loved it,’ Putnam said. “She says it’s a big decision to make and each option seems to lead to a bright future. The trip was mainly for my mom to visit. But the coaching staff seemed very high on me. Virginia Tech is definitely giving USC a run for their money.”
Putnam will go to North Carolina Saturday night for the annual Freak Night. He plans to visit USC again before making a decision but that won’t happen next week because Gamecock offensive line coach Shawn Elliott is going to be away on vacation.
