***Ole Miss vs South Carolina game thread***

TOP 4 - Montgomery back to the mound. He gets a fly ball to left then a ground ball to second. Two easy plays, but both got him to throw a handful of pitches. Two down. Monty goes ahead in the count 0-2 to six-hole hitter Bell. Buries a curve ball but no dice on the swing. 1-2. He bounces a single through the left side to give the Rebs a runner. Don't be surprised if he steals at some point this AB. He breaks on the first pitch but it's fouled off. A walk and an error by Mooney loads the bases. Ball bounced up and hit him on the heel of his glove. Yuck. Bases loaded, two outs. Montgomery goes ahead 1-2 after a cutter is fouled back. Monty freezes Jamison with a fastball on the inside corner to get out of trouble. Score tied 1-1.

Mooney singled up the middle (1-1 BF); English advanced to third

Schrock singled up the middle, RBI (1-0

; Mooney advanced to second; English scored. 2-1 SC

BOTTOM 4 - Elliott Caldwell with a lazy fly ball to right. One down. Stepped in the bucket on that pitch. Tanner English doubles down the third base line. Third basemen always have to play in on him which means balls hit that way get by easier. That dribber gets down the line and in for a double. He's on second with one down and Mooney up. #wobble. Mooney tries to drop a 1-0 bunt to surprise the third baseman, who was playing well behind the bag. Ball rolls foul. Mooney hits a bouncer up the middle. Helluva play by Robinson behind the bag to make it close. I thought he stood no chance there. Schrock hits a bouncer back up the middle. Easy double play ball but it hits off the glove of the pitcher and no play is made. English scores from third and everyone is safe. Two on, one down for Pankake, who goes ahead 3-0 in the count. He walks. Martin hits another easy double play ball. Again, second baseman with another awful flip that's no where near the bag. Everyone is safe. Bright hits a sac fly to center to score Schrock. Centerfielder threw to third base. Pankake was leisurely jogging in that direction and is tagged out to end the inning. Carolina leads 4-1

TOP 5 - Bousfield, the leadoff hitter, hits a ground ball to second. Arendas takes it off the chest but gathers and throws to first. Then makes a play on a slow roller. Two down. Anderson hits a two strike pitch high and deep to right field. It's gone. Home run probably should never happened as Greiner dropped a pop fly near the screen. Don't see that happen often. He was settled under it but have to drift back and it popped out of his mitt. Ruled no play, but very easily could have been given an error which would have made Montgomery's HR allowed unearned. Either way, it's 4-2 now. Montgomery strikes out Allen, which is his fifth of the game, to end the inning. 92 pitches for Montgomery. Carolina leads 4-2

BOTTOM 5 - Grayson Greiner up. Slicing liner to right. Jamison been working hard out there. Makes a diving attempt but traps it. Nice call by the umpire. Arendas shows bunt but pulls back on a slider and takes a strike. He falls behind 0-2 in the count. Hits a liner that short hops in front of the second baseman. Gets the lead runner. Arendas safe at first. Caldwell flies out to right for the third time. English is hit by an 89 mph fastball on the left hand. Trainer Brainard Cooper to the top step, but he's waved back into the dugout. Mooney hits a bouncer back up the middle. Bell, the second baseman, bobbles it, but gains control with his foot on the second base bag for the force out to end the inning. Carolina leads 4-2.

E. Robinson flied out to CF (1-2 KKB); B. Bell advanced to third.

TOP 6 - Dribbler to first base. Martin flips to Montgomery. One down. Bell, the second baseman, lines a double down the left field line. That was on Montgomery's 100th pitch of the night. After a walk, Robinson flies out to center. Colby Bortles, younger brother of Blake Bortles, will pinch hit in the nine hole. He walks. Montgomery up to 114 now. Welp, Bousfield launched his third home run of the season going down the left field line. Grand slam. Erases a two-run USC lead and makes it a two-run OM lead. Pankake fields a ground ball from Lee, throws in the dirt, but Martin bails him out. Ole Miss leads 6-4

BOTTOM 6 - Max Schrock is 4-for-4 with a home run, 2 RBIs and a run scored with a bum ankle. Need to keep him less than 100% the rest of the year. Pankake pops up in foul territory. Martin walks. Bright hits a soft line to center, which is caught. He faced new RHP Aaron Greenwood, who stays in to face Greiner. He hits a bullet but it's right at the right fielder, who makes the catch. Ole Miss leads 6-4.

I'm gonna be SICK if we lose this game....

TOP 7 - Vince Fiori in to pitch. Still not sure why a pitcher would want to come out to "Bombs over Baghdad," but that's not a decision for me to make. He gets a slow roller to Martin, who flips to him for the 3-1 put out. Then strikes out cleanup hitter Will Allen. Ground ball to Mooney is easy enough for the final out of the inning. Ole Miss leads 6-4

BOTTOM 7 - Arendas goes down on strikes. One down. Caldwell pops up to deep second. That's four pop flies to the right side. English pops up to the catcher, who makes a running play on the on-deck circle outside the USC dugout. It's getting late here in Columbia. OM still leads 6-4.

TOP 8 - One pitch, one out for Fiori. Ground ball to Arendas. K for Orvis. Two down bringing up Errol Robinson. He singles to right to give the Rebels a runner. Greiner throws him out though trying to swipe second base. Ole Miss leads 6-4

BOTTOM 8 - Mooney pops up on the infield. Schrock grounds out to second base. Pankake flies out to right. Ole Miss leads 6-4.

B. Lee grounded out to P (0-0); A. Bousfield advanced to third.

A. Anderson walked Ole Miss has players on the corners with 2 outs

TOP 9 - Fiori still out there and chugging along. Dishon lines out to third. Bousfield doubles off the middle of the wall in left field. Hard ground ball back at Fiori. He knocks it down and gets the runner at first. Home run hitter Anderson up. He had the solo shot. He walks to put runners on the corners. Taylor Widener coming in to pitch and look for the final out. Widener gets a line out to right to end the inning. Carolina will send Martin, Bright and Greiner to the plate looking for two runs. LHP Wyatt Short stays in the game. Ole Miss leads 6-4.
