It's so early in this process, but I really like what I'm seeing in our new coach and how the players that stayed at USC are reacting to Shane.  I have very few expectations for what I see on the field this fall other than a general sense of improvement, and I understand this will be either be successful or not successful in the long term based on the players he is able to attract to come here. But early signs are positive IMO.

Seems like what I am reading he is bringing some good energy and the assistant coaches have the trust of the players (as does Shane).  Some different coaching methods and schemes I am hoping bring some improvement to the his team.  I also would like to see, and I think we will, more TEAM effort than we saw the last few years.

I'm glad to hear team and coaching chemistry is coming together. You can have great athletes and great coaches, but if the chemistry is not there, you won;' have a great team.

Based on the early news and these videos, I think Beamer (dare I say it) may change the culture.  :)

Ace,

Why do you think the "family" talk at Clempson is BS (not saying you are wrong)?  Do you think they are just pretending or that the "family" aspect does not work?  I think they play it up a lot and not sure how true it is.  I do believe that the "family" mentality of a team is a positive.  If guys respect each other and coaches, your results are often better IMO.

I figured that is what you meant.  I agree it is pretty phony and contrived on Dabo and Clempson's part.  I do believe if a team has that attitude for real, it can bring a team together.  In this sense, I think it is made up for recruiting and publicity.  Let's face it, Dabo is about winning and I have to imagine there is some cheating going on there, just all of the big programs.  It's part of college sports and boosters with money.

I generally believe part of what has been wrong with our program is somewhere above the HC level.  Just a hunch, but IDK, the moon is cheese.

If that's true, then I believe that Shane has the people skills to work out whatever kinks may be there.

One week the offense has been good, but the defense is bad.  The next week things flip around.  Never both offense and defense working good at the same time, which would put us in a position to win most of the time.

I agree Ace.  I have a hard time believing that the taters started pulling in all this talent on the level.  No way some cheating was not or is not going on.  Screw the acc!  and screw the taters.

Really, guys a bad as I hate Clemson and their fans, I do not believe that there is an bunch of cheating  on  now maybe at first, but they don't have to now

they are winning and the kids today don't remember when they were just plain bad,   I think DABO has an good staff, and the ex players help him an bunch

the ones in the N.F.L.  I have said in the past when we quit worrying about the tigers and worry how to fix our program it will be o.k. , the problem still at Carolina is

just beat Clemson , I am tired of the talk about them cheating, if it was so it would have come out already.   Carolina needs to just go get it done an prime example was tis weekend I have always said that it's political in Columbia, and this weekend was an perfect example of the Head basketball coach.   They don't want too  win just be pretty .

The kids want to win but the people who control the university not soo much.

Because of the ultra-efficient nature of the NCAA's ability to find and detect cheating? Yeah, I don't know about that. I'm not saying they ARE cheating, but I AM saying that if they were, the idea that they would have been caught by now is a stretch.

I have no idea if Upstate is cheating or not...I have my suspicions, but recognize it may just be my deep rooted prejudice against all things orange and feline.  However, the only way to stop schools from cheating is to require head coaches to forfeit all of their pay since the start of their tenure with a caught school.  If coaches had a financial reason to run clean programs they would, because right now there absolutely is incentive to cheat -- winning coaches make big salaries.  So even if they are caught and banned for life, they've made enough to never have to work another day in their life.  NCAA should figure out a way to hold schools accountable also, make the penalty substantial enough that they have to have proper oversight.

The problem with punishing the coaches is many times it's boosters doing the cheating.  I understand that the coaches should know and many probably do, but boosters can cheat without any coaches being involved.  Personally, I think all the top tier programs do some type of cheating.  The NCAA has no vested interest in doing anything because of the revenue those schools generate.  Once the taters started winning, weather cheating or not, I think then they started to bring in top talent all the time.

Back to the topic - Looking forward to Shane Beamer and staff this season!

I agree with you. My daughter went to Bama and when I walked onto that campus and saw them believe that they were the place where Legends are Made, I noticed a major difference in the attitude of that entire campus.

USC has to get past the feel good storyline crap and put the best players on the field. Storylines and feelgood hype doesn't win games, athletes do.

That sounds like a pretty good idea. I wonder why they have not put the best players on the field? Shouldn't they know they have a better chance of winning ball games that way?
