Four-star offensive lineman Christian Pellage (Brooksville, Fla./Nature Coast Tech) is shutting it down. Following his official visit to South Carolina over the weekend and in-home visits with coaches from his top two schools, Pellage has decided he will certainly sign with the Gamecocks on National Signing Day.

The new Florida staff has made Pellage a priority since taking over in Gainesville but they were unable to flip the Under Armour All-American during his official visit. Pellage made a trip to Columbia over the weekend and went home to discuss the trips with the family.

“Florida gave me a lot to think about, especially with the new staff and players,” Pellage told TheBigSpur.com. “But in the end, after the discussion with my family, South Carolina just felt right deep down in my heart.”

The Gators put the full court press on Pellage, who hosted new head coach Jim McElwain in early December. South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier, offensive line coach Shawn Elliott and running backs coach Everette Sands went into Pellage’s home a week ago to try to halt any momentum the Gators had.

Pellage has said all of the right things to Elliott behind the scenes and was ready to shut down the process with this announcement.

"My relationship with Coach Elliott had a huge impact with this decision," Pellage said. "It wasn't always about football. We got to know each other personally and I know I can trust him in my development as a player and a person."

Pellage is a four-star player at a great position of need for the Gamecocks. There are currently three healthy offensive tackles on the roster and one was academically ineligible for the bowl game. The nation’s No. 27 player at his position is one of two offensive tackles currently committed in the 2015 class.

Even though Florida could sell early playing time, so can South Carolina. One could certainly make the argument that he’s the most important committed player in the class.

"My goal is to make a big impact on the team," Pellage said. "I feel like I can possibly do that with hard work, dedication and doing what Coach Elliott tells me to do."

Pellage remains a part of the South Carolina class that currently ranked No. 17 nationally in the 247Sports Composite. He believes the Gamecocks’ coaching staff is currently putting together a class that will get the program back among the nation’s elite.

"I am excited to see what this recruit class will do," I always hear nothing but good things and I think we are a great group, player and character wise."
