Prospects hit 7-on-7 tournament, linemen camp

Several significant South Carolina recruiting targets made their way to campus on Thursday for a 7-on-7 tournament and linemen camp.
The Gamecocks’ coaches hosted 36 high schools from North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia for the first two 7-on-7 tournaments. No. 2 is Friday, the same day as the second linemen camp.
Two-front approach
On Thursday, a pair of offensive linemen were among the highlighted guests: 2019 3-star commitment Jaylen Nichols (Charlotte, N.C.) and 2021 target Micah Morris (Kingsland, Ga.), who lists several SEC offers, including South Carolina.
Two notable 2020 defensive linemen accompanied their teammates at the 7-on-7 tournament: 4-star end Jordan Burch and 4-star tackle Alex Huntley. Burch played tight end and Huntley, who’s between visits to Georgia and Ohio State, was there as a spectator.
Hammond (Columbia, S.C.) quarterback, Jackson Muschamp, is the oldest son of South Carolina’s head coach. Will Muschamp looked on as Hammond played Islands High School (Savannah, Ga.) in the last game before the midday break. Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was there, too.
Burch wasn’t the only blue-chip prospect in the game. Islands features 2019 4-star linebacker Kalen Deloach, the No. 32-ranked outside linebacker in the country, according to the 247Sports composite.
In the game before Hammond-Islands, 2020 quarterback Luke Doty led Myrtle Beach (S.C.) High School to a win over Mauldin (S.C.) High School. Several Gamecocks coaches and players were there to watch, including quarterbacks coach Dan Werner, running backs coach Bobby Bentley and wide receivers Deebo Samuel and OrTre Smith.

Bentley spent time watching Woodward Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) 2019 running back Tahj Gary, a 3-star with several other Power 5 suitors, including Arkansas, Georgia Tech and North Carolina.
Another 2020 target, wide receiver Jalen Coit, returned for the 7-on-7 tournament with his teammates from Cheraw (S.C.) High School. South Carolina’s coaches had a looked at him during Week 1 of Muschamp Camp.
A Wake Forest commitment, 2019 running back Kendrell Flowers, accompanied his teammates from Irmo (S.C.) High School.
Josh Strickland, a 2020 quarterback from Gilbert (S.C.) High School, was there, too.
