RB Mikey Dukes has added an offer from East Carolina & DL Tonka Hemingway looking for a place where he feels good

March 11, 2018

Visit plans for in-state running back

Mikey Dukes, the 2019 running back from First Baptist School (Charleston, S.C.) has added an offer from East Carolina.

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound prospect will head to Greenville, N.C., this coming Saturday for a junior day stop with the Pirates. South Carolina is set to host him for another visit seven days later, to check out one of the Gamecocks spring scrimmages.

Dukes, who played in the South Carolina Junior Showcase basketball game on Saturday at Heathwood Hall, starts AAU basketball practice next Friday with Upward Stars. The upcoming AAU stretch will provide him with another opportunity to add some college basketball offers to his list of options.

Along with South Carolina and East Carolina, Dukes’ football offers include Arkansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

More from the beach

Tonka Hemingway went to two college football games last season. Even though both were losses for South Carolina — Kentucky and Clemson — that didn’t take away from his experience at Williams-Brice Stadium.

“It was a good environment. The crowd, everybody was in the game and the lights,” Hemingway said.

The 2020 defensive lineman from Conway (S.C.) High School hasn’t been anywhere since the Clemson game, and it’s going to be a little while before he’s back out on the road. Hemingway’s commitments to the Conway basketball and baseball teams have kept him at home in 2018.

Hemingway (6-2, 260) lists offers from Alabama, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Rutgers and South Carolina.

Two areas will be among the primary factors considered as he moves toward a decision.

“A place where I feel good about my education first, then a good environment,” Hemingway said.
