Redshirt freshman Shon Carson went down with a wrist injury in mid-August and his season was thought to be over. Carson, who needed surgery on his left wrist to repair broken bones, returned to practice in a limited capacity during Clemson week and is set to make his return against Michigan in the Outback Bowl.
Carson has endured some tough luck with regard to injuries during his two seasons with the Gamecocks. His freshman year in 2011, he tore his ACL against Georgia, the team’s second game, and was lost for the rest of the season on his first carry of the game.
Speaking after the Mr. Football Award presentation at Myrtle Beach High School, South Carolina running backs coach Everette Sands confirmed that Carson would return to practice in a full capacity when the Gamecocks (10-2) return to the field a week from today.
“His wrist is good enough that we feel like we can wrap it up and he can go in and participate,” Sands said. “He’ll start practice when we start practice next week.”
