Record-setting hometown QB to join Gamecocks

Feb. 20, 2018

Hammond record-setting quarterback Corbett Glick accepted a preferred walk-on offer from South Carolina on Monday.

Glick, 6-foot-1, led the Midlands with 3,303 yards and 38 touchdowns in helping the Skyhawks to the SCISA 3A title this season.

The 6-foot-1 signal caller received the walk-on offer in November shortly after the championship game but has been deciding between football and lacrosse, where he helped the Skyhawks win a state title in May.

Glick had an offer to play lacrosse at powerhouse Johns Hopkins, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to play for Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks.

“I felt USC deep down in my heart and love football and wanted to be part of something bigger than I am,” Glick said. “I love Coach Muschamp and am going in and to compete. And as years go on, hopefully I can be a leader and do whatever is asked of me.”

Glick plans to attend spring practice on March 3.

Glick transferred from Heathwood Hall to Hammond before his junior season. He played for former USC QB Erik Kimrey, who also was a walk-on and wore No. 13 like Glick, for the 15-time state champion Skyhawks.

In just two years, Glick set school records in yards (6,000), TDs (66) and completion percentage (69.4).
