Recruiting Notes For January 27th: Georgia media reports on Williams not encouraging for Gamecocks; More offers go out
Having already lost standout safety Hamsah Nasirildeen, USC is desperately trying to hang on to DB Jamyest Williams of Loganville, GA, the acknowledged star of the Gamecocks’ class according to the experts. Williams will make his official visit to USC this weekend and then decide between the Gamecocks and Georgia. Williams, who actually lives in Athens, visited Georgia last weekend, reportedly on an unofficial visit paid for by his father. Williams and his father JJ attended an awards ceremony in Atlanta Thursday night and while he’s not doing interviews until after he signs Wednesday, his father shared his feelings on where things stand with Williams with Jeff Sentell of DawgNation.com. “The most honest thing I can say right now is if the decision was today and today was the day he had to make his decision I think he would be going to Georgia. That’s if today was the day.” And, the father added this to Sentell: “That’s based on this past weekend and everything that has transpired over the last couple of weeks.” Sentell also reported Georgia defensive back commitment William Poole III has told Williams he is willing to give up the #1 jersey he was going to where in Athens if that will help get Williams to commit. One thing Williams did answer to was a rumor that he had reaffirmed his commitment to USC with the Gamecock coaches. He said that rumor was not true. Williams also said he likely would make up his mind on Tuesday and call the coaches that day.
USC is the first offer for 2018 OL Sean Rhyan of San Juan Capistrano, CA.
USC offered 2020 DB RJ Mickens of Southlake, TX.
USC target 2018 RB Master Teague III of Murfreesboro, TN was offered by Mississippi State.
