Recruiting Notes For July 27, 2017: Miami DB coming to see USC; McAllister impressed by USC; GA ATH puts USC on short list; GA WR has USC in final three; South Florida DB will return to USC; Jordon Carty update
DB Jermaine McMillian of Miami plans to visit USC a week from Saturday. The Gamecocks and Mississippi State are the top two with McMillian and he said the Gamecocks have moved into a strong position with him. “I love the program. Who wouldn’t want to play on a big stage. I haven’t had a chance to meet Coach Muschamp yet but Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) hase coach lots of great players. He said he likes that I don’t take plays off even if the ball doesn’t come on my side.” McMillian said committing to the Gamecocks on the visits is a possibility if the visits goes well. He has not yet visited Mississippi State.
TE Elijah McAllister of Rumson, NJ was in the state late last week and visited USC and Clemson. The Gamecocks are interested in him and will continue to recruit him while the Tigers aren’t showing the same interest. “The visit went very well. I loved South Carolina. Coach Pat Washington and I connected on a great level and it was a great visit, honestly the best I’ve had yet. They just want to see some film and they should offer. They see me as the next tight end to step in and play right away. I will be visiting for the Kentucky game.” That visit will be unofficial. McAllister also is considering Michigan State, Tennessee and Boston College at this point. He does not have a favorite and won’t make a decision until January.
USC is in the top 9 with ATH Richard Jibunor of Athens, GA. The others are Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Louisville and North Carolina.
WR Matthew Hill of Snellville, GA told Rivals he is down to USC, Alabama and Auburn with a decision coming soon, within the next month. He visited all three over the summer with the USC visit coming last weekend.
DB Jamari Brown of Pompano Beach, FL was offered by USC after his spring game and he camped with the Gamecocks last month. Brown plans to return to USC for a game this fall. USC’s Travaris Robinson remains in touch with him. He recently was offered by Auburn and the Tigers will be tough to beat because his uncle Junior Rosegreen starred for the Tigers and is his defensive coordinator at Ely High School.
OL Jordon Carty of Hollywood, FL is one of three USC 2017 signees who did not enroll for summer school because there was still academic work to complete. According to his former assistant coach Junior Rosegreen, Carty is a point shy of qualifying and will retake the SAT soon. Rosegreen is optimistic Carty will qualify and be able to report in late August. He said USC remains very much involved with him. Carty, he said, is now 6-8 335 pounds. The other two signees still on hold for academic reasons are DB Keisean Nixon and OL Jordan Rhodes. Gamecock coach Will Muschamp has said he expects all three to make it in.
