USC offered 2018 OL Cleveland Reed (6-4 295) of Fort Meade, FL. Some of his other offers are Clemson, Oregon, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky and Ohio State.
Pendleton coach Paul Sutherland told GoGamecocks.com Sunday night DE Brad Johnson will not visit Tennessee this coming weekend and is down to USC and Virginia Tech. Johnson visited USC over the weekend. He visited Virginia Tech last month. Johnson said Sunday Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente will be in this week to see him as will USC recruiter Coleman Hutzler. Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp is due in next week according to Johnson.
DE Javon Kinlaw of Jones County JC, MS made his official visit to Southern Cal over the weekend. He will visit USC the final weekend of the month and make a final decision after that between the Gamecocks and Trojans. “The whole scenery, I’ve never seen anything like that,” Kinlaw said of Southern Cal. “The buildings, the school, the campus, everything was great. I want to major in business marketing and they showed me the brand new business building and all the facilities. They told me I’m the only JUCO guy they are recruiting and normally when they recruit JUCO guys they expect them to come in and play right away.” Kinlaw has been favoring USC but this visit has given him something else to consider. “It’s going to be tough. It’s a tough decision. I’m going to have to think about it. It’s just tough, that’s all.” Kinlaw said he’s not aware of any coaches visiting him this coming week and distance won’t be a factor in his decision.
OL K’rojhn Calbert of McMinnville, TN had scheduled an in home visit with new USC offensive line coach Eric Wolford for Sunday afternoon but he cancelled that visit. Calbert is a Tennessee commitment and said he is finished with recruiting. “I’m shutting it down. I’m going to be a Vol and I’m very happy about it.” Calbert took an unofficial and an official visit to USC during the season.
DE Tre Lawson of North Augusta Sunday announced a commitment to Florida State. Lawson decommitted from Tennessee in December. He also considered Louisville and South Florida on his second recruiting run. Lawson recorded 5 tackles in the Touchstone Energy North-South Game last month.
DE Jaylen Twyman of Washington, DC made his official visit to USC over the weekend. He’s also been to Pitt and will go to Missouri next weekend. “It was a great visit,” Twyman said. “The players treated me like a player. Coach Lance Thompson was real, real good to my family. They can see me getting sacks.” Twyman said talk of committing came up a couple of times but he wasn’t ready. “They are a high priority on my list,” he said but added he doesn’t have a favorite.
Pendleton DE Brad Johnson made his official visit to USC over the weekend. He’s made several unofficial visits but this trip gave him the chance to go in depth into the school and the football program. “”I’ve been up to USC a couple times so this trip I was trying to look for the small things that might stick out to me,” Johnson said. “I talked to Coach P (Mike Peterson) and he laid out the scheme for me and how I would physically fit in the defense and where I would be. He showed me the freshmen that were playing this year and the senior that was leaving. He was telling how there’s nothing but opportunity for me.” Johnson said Peterson and Will Muschamp see him playing the Buck linebacker spot in their defense. “I think it fits me perfectly with the skill sets that I have and me being able to rush the passer and being mobile all around the field and not just staying on the defensive line but moving around on the field on defense.” Johnson has also visited Virginia Tech officially and will go to Tennessee next weekend. Right now the Gamecocks and Hokies are at the top of his list. This visit gave him even more to think about. “It’s opened up a lot of things in my mind. It’s helped me to compare both of the two, instate or out of state. I’ve got some decisions to make. I wouldn’t say there’s a number one. Virginia Tech and South Carolina are right there. There are certain things that distinguish both of the two. There are differences and similarities.” USC recruiter Coleman Hutzler is scheduled to visit Johnson Friday. He’s also expecting Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente in this week and Muschamp the following week. “It definitely means something to me, the fact that coach Muschamp as soon as he got the job and came into South Carolina, he made me a priority to him and the school. It definitely stands out and it definitely means something, from then to now. I’m hoping after the Tennessee visit, I can come back with some prayers and a lot of thoughts, and hopefully call up Coach Muschamp and Coach Fuente and let either one of them know what the deal is. If not I could make an announcement on Signing Day.”
OL Tony Gray of Loganville, GA made his official visit to USC over the weekend. Gray will visit Florida next weekend and Ole Miss the final weekend of the month. All three remain in contention for the big tackle from one of the top programs in Georgia. “It was a nice visit. It was a nice official. It was good to chat with Coach Muschamp, Coach Bmac, Trob and all them guys, and the new offensive line coach, Coach Wolford,” Gray said. “”I hung out with a lot of the guys on the team, stuff like that. Thy were just pitching to me, ‘At least give it a chance. Give SC a chance to recruit you.’ That’s what they were saying. it was a nice visit all around.” As for what stood out the most to him, Gray said, “”The people, the vibe that everybody gives each other, the brotherhood the team has with each other. That’s what guys look for in a team, the bond.” As for getting down to his decision, Gray said a couple of factors will push him to a school. “”Most definitely playing time and a coach that can develop me into a good football player. (Coach Wolford) is a good man. He just came from the league so he knows what he’s talking about. Like I said I’ve got to weigh out my options.” Gray expects to make his decision near to or on Signing Day.

I still feel the same. I still love South Carolina. They still treat me like I’m their son. Just feels good to be back. They say I can play a major role in the team.” Wyatt said he won’t make his decision until Signing Day. “My head is kind of swimming right now.”
USC has offered Ben Lippen QB Patrick McClure a preferred walk-on opportunity. “I’m excited about it! Muschamp said I could take as long as I wanted to commit. But since I have scholarship offers I’m still gonna decide by Signing Day. I will sit down with my coach and parents and figure out dates for officials.” He is looking at USC, Jacksonville University, Virginia Tech and Western Carolina at this point. Last season McClure passed for 1311 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 380 yards and 6 touchdowns.
