Rocker gone

Are there any Gamecock alum Dline coaches/players out there who want to continue the "coming home" trend?
Cliff Matthews is the DL coach at Limestone. Might be too big a jump but talk about a guy you'd love to have back in the fold...

This may be perceived as a bad thing from the outside, but I look at it as a good thing, just more taking out the trash. I am fully confident the Coach Beamer will replace him with an upgrade.

Happens with a major overhaul, just seems so much worse with the portal the way it is now.
not really the guys that left could have been the main reason team was 2-8 ,  he will get an upgrade no doubt, hell the d line was part of the problem last year.

The negative perception will last only as long as it takes to find a better replacement (see Bobo replacement).
Agreed assuming the right hire is made, quickly.  After Bobo left so did a major commit.  This all happens days after Beamer's presser where he addressed any additional coaches leaving.  Then if this happened the way it was rumored to, no warning, jut moving out, there's a perception of coaches and Beamer not being on the same page.   It's not the end of the world but these defections are happening daily.  Recruiting is tough enough but harder when you're being scavenged by other programs.  As for the coaching part, I'm not upset at all by any defensive coach loss given their performance the past couple years.  Th

Shane was asked specifically at the last presser if he thought his staff was set - in terms of folks leaving. He obviously had sat down with all of them and asked them this specific question, and he stood up for the guys who were still here. For Rocker to flee in the middle of the night like the Browns leaving Cleveland has to royally piss him off, based on how much he puts into loyalty as an ingredient he seeks. All that being said, huge upgrade opportunity ahead ... can anyone point to our DL last year and say they were our strength, despite being littered with four and 5-star talent? No. If Tracy Rocker was a water walker, he wouldn't have have 8 jobs in the last 20 years. So let's all raise a middle finger to Allbarn and move on to better days.

I get you. But all of that is short term pain - and CSB is building for the long term here. Tracy Rocker is just one more mercenary who has changed sides. Perception is easier to counter than most PR issues, which is what his leaving really is - a PR issue. It's not a football or coaching issue, because Tracy didn't do #$%^all over the last year, based on the play of his unit. So what is the narrative? "Coaches fleeing Gamecock staff?" That's easy to change, especially if you can continue to bring in coaches with connections and loyalty to the school, the region (Stepp, Kimrey), or Beamer himself (Satterfield, Gray). Then the narrative becomes "Beamer building bright young staff for the long haul." And off you go. We now have two opportunities to keep doing that, plus GA, analyst and staff jobs like Jerideau's.

Lol...love it!

Looks like Auburn is wanting to recycle big name SEC coaches. I bet they have to do it because of their fanbase...any coach without name recognition is considered a failure. While I am not pleased with the change up, I am excited for our future. It really takes a good foundation to change a program and I feel like Beamer is making these considerations with all new hires.

Obviously had no interest in being here. Good riddance.
Rocker hasn't been anywhere for more than two years for over a decade...with a number of one and outs mixed in over his entire career...him moving on without accomplishing much is who he is...make no mistake...he was a great player...but coach?

BTW...his departure from Georgia was a weird one where he was actually fired then required to sign a NDA to keep the details of that firing secret. Rocker refused to comment and the only reason we know this is because of a freedom of information claim that produced the letter of termination that was personally hand delivered to Rocker himself.

He is more than welcome to go join Bobo and the rest of the Auburn clan...think about this...we were so bad we fired our coach in the middle of the season...one of the only teams we beat was All-barn...now they're rebuilding themselves in our failed image...or with coaches that were either fired from somewhere else or on staff for the 2-8 Gamecocks...whose only two wins were over their new DC and Auburn itself...its weird but anyone who wants to jump ship now can get to stepping. I was a Gamecock fan long before any of these clowns came on board and will be long after any of them have left. If history is any indication Rocker will be gone in another two years anyway...and I'll still be nothing but Garnet and Black!

I doubt Sylvester Croom will ever go to bat for Tracy Rocker again, that's for sure.
