Lovasea Carroll, a running back who transferred in this past season from Georgia, is a player that Beal-Smith has taken note of in the weeks heading into the Gator Bowl. While Carroll played sparingly on special teams this season and was injured in the days leading into the bowl game, Beal-Smith believes that the rising sophomore can be a difference-maker next year.
While the specifics of Carroll’s injury have not been released, second-year head coach Shane Beamer said that he hopes to have the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder ready to go for spring practice. A native of Warrenton, Ga., Carroll, over his high school career, averaged 10.3 yards per rush and 99.2 rushing yards per game with 40 total touchdowns, including 34 rushing scores.
