Ryan Hilinski preps for South Carolina recruiting weekend

April 20, 2018

Before Ryan Hilinski finished his last South Carolina recruiting visit, he’d already started to make plans for his next stop in Columbia.

Hilinski, a 4-star quarterback who committed to the Gamecocks earlier this month, will be back in town this weekend for his official visit.

“[Quarterbacks] coach [Dan] Werner had mentioned it while I was at the spring game, and we both thought it would be best to come this weekend to recruit,” Hilinski said.

South Carolina will welcome Hilinski and his family on Friday. For the last several days, he’s done some homework to familiarize himself with the prospects who will also be on campus.

“I coordinated with the coaches and figured out a lot,” Hilinski said.

Like Hilinski, 2019 3-star center commitVincent Murphy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) will be on campus this weekend as an official visitor.

Below is a list of the confirmed guests for the next South Carolina recruiting weekend:

  • 2019 5-star DE Zacch Pickens (Anderson, S.C.)
  • 2020 4-star DE Jordan Burch (Columbia, S.C.)
  • 2020 4-star DT Alex Huntley (Columbia, S.C.)
Maybe:

  • 2019 3-star LB Derek Boykins (Concord, N.C.)
  • 2019 3-star T Jaylen Nichols (Charlotte, N.C.) committed
  • 2020 4-star S Cameron Roseman-Sinclair (Charlotte, N.C.)

Coach Frank Martin has been a busy man this week, checking in on and hosting some of the top 2019 prospects in the country, a few of whom are from the state of South Carolina.

On Thursday, 5-star small forward Christian Brown made the short trip from Lower Richland High School (Hopkins, S.C.). Brown (6-6, 198) is the No. 19-ranked overall prospect in the Class of 2019.

Four-star center D.J. Burns (York, S.C.) hosted Martin on Wednesday. Burns (6-9, 248) is ranked 74th in the country.

Wendell Moore, a 5-star small forward from Cox Mill High School (Concord, N.C.), also was visited by the Gamecocks staff on Wednesday.
