I think we needed a thread for this team.
In the SEC coaches’ preseason poll, South Carolina was picked to finish last in the league. Many on the outside don’t seem to have faith in the team for the 2025 season. They have a 19-0 start.
I already have faith in them. Them girls sure are awesome this season. They proved this weekend that they are ready for any competition. And they definitely need to be.
Sunday, they went down 4-0 but did not let that slow them down. By the 3rd inning they were back up 8-4. In the 4th Duke made it 8-7 but then they shut them down as they went on to win 12-7. They had 4 HR in that game.
Currently the SEC has 9 teams in the top 25 and 6 of the top 7. Being 19-0 with the sweep of Duke, we may be in the top 10 ourselves.
However, this weekend they have to play away again at the #1 team, Oklahoma.
They are also 19-0. They have won the NCAA softball championship 4 years in a row. They are the best of the best.
Go to their house and win like we did at Duke, and we will know we are future champs. I would be glad to win any of them, but 2 and the series, would be really huge for these girls. OKL. had a 71-game home winning streak that got broke last season. Well, I would love to break their new 13-game home winning streak.
Ashley Chastain Woodard really is a good coach. Glad Ray brought her here. She has some real good pitchers and will sub them often. She also will bring in pinch batters and runners as needed. The passion she sees in the players is translating into a belief and that they can beat anyone.
Like I said, this will be their toughest games yet this weekend.
