South Carolina’s Chris Lammons seems to have received a mighty high honor
Dec. 04, 2016
We got a glimpse of some apparent hardware given out by the South Carolina football team, as Chris Lammons intimated that he received an award for being the Gamecocks’ most productive defensive player for 2016.
Take a look at the hand-held award that somewhat resembles the NFL’s Lombardi Trophy, given to Super Bowl champions.
It’s unclear whether the Gamecocks honored a player on the offensive side of the ball, as there was no social media buzz beyond Lammons’ tweet.
Lammons was one of three Gamecocks players to total 3 interceptions this season, but he was a stat-stuffer in other categories, too. He was tied for seventh on the team in tackles with 46, tied for fourth in tackles for loss (4), broke up 5 passes, recovered 2 fumbles and forced 1 fumble. Indeed a fine season for the junior from Lauderhill, Fla.
SEC Country’s Mike Wilson recently named the offensive and defensive MVPs for the Gamecocks during the regular season, selecting wide receiver Deebo Samuel and Darius English for those respective honors.
