South Carolina coaches see 4-star commitment Jamyest Williams

Jan. 16, 2017

Four-star cornerback Jamyest Williams, the top-rated commitment in South Carolina’s 2017 signing class, has been visited by two South Carolina coaches.

Last Thursday, the first day of the contact period, defensive coordinator coach Travaris Robinson stopped through the Atlanta area, to see state’s No. 6-ranked 2017 prospect. Apparently, that’s par for course. Robinson has meet with Williams on the first day of every contact period.

That’s according to Williams’ father, J.J., who confirmed the news with SEC Country on Monday night.

Robinson returned earlier that day at lunchtime. This time, he was joined by coach Will Muschamp.

Williams, a senior at Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., is set to take an official visit this weekend to Athens.

South Carolina will get the last shot, on the final weekend before signing day.

The Gamecocks added Williams’ commitment in August. At the time, it was made clear that he would take official visits to other schools.

Oklahoma hosted him for an official visit in December, but the decision is expected to come down to the Gamecocks and Bulldogs.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Williams is the No. 6-ranked cornerback in the class of 2017. He’s also listed as the No. 56 overall prospect in the country.
