South Carolina first to offer 2019 CB Tyron Hopper
March 14, 2017
On Monday, Gaffney (S.C.) High School cornerback Tyron Hopper announced on Twitter that he received an offer from South Carolina.
It’s No. 1 for Hopper, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect who had 31 tackles, 2 interceptions and 4 pass breakups as a sophomore.
According to his 247Sports profile, Hopper is also receiving interest from Appalachian State, Clemson, East Carolina, N.C. State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Hopper’s teammate, 2018 wide receiver Dennis Smith, also has an offer from South Carolina.
The Gamecocks dispensed a handful of offers to in-state prospects for the 2019 recruiting cycle. They include wide receivers Jamario Holley (Rock Hill, Northwestern) and Jacoby Pinckney (Roebuck, Dorman) and defensive end Zacch Pickens (Anderson, T.L. Henna).
At first glance, Hopper appears a Power 5 prospect, so more offers are expected to trickle his way. Several of the early highlights on his sophomore reel were against 2018 wide receiver Demarcus Gregory, who lists several Power 5 offers, including South Carolina, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Tennessee and Louisville.
