Terrell a priority

The South Carolina Gamecocks continue to be hot on the trail of four-star Atlanta CB AJ Terrell. They got some good news earlier in the month when the nation's #13 corner put them in his top six along with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Georgia, although a decision date is unknown at this time. Bryan McClendon was down in Atlanta a few days ago to check on the junior prospect. Terrell continues to be a high priority for the staff, and if they are able to get a hold of him, they will have landed a player that has a shot at providing help to their secondary as early as next year.

Pair of First Coast recruits add South Carolina offers

Ameer Speed is in high demand with an offer sheet that totals around 35. On Friday, the Gamecocks added their name to that growing list by offering the 6'3", 195-pound 2017 cornerback from Jacksonville. Speed, who is being recruited by both Travaris Robinson and Pat Washington, has received a number of mid-major looks as well as interest from several Power 5 teams; Duke, Louisville, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Southern Cal are among his more notable offers.

As it turns out, it would be Washington's first of two First Coast players he would end up offering on Friday, as Ponte Vedra Beach 2018 tight end Zach Sheffer was added to the list. Sheffer has been offered by Auburn, Duke, Michigan, and Tennessee, among others.

Gamecocks look to claim territory in LSU's backyard

It was probably a foregone conclusion that Stephen Guidry would commit to LSU after de-committing from South Carolina, but that hasn't stopped them from continuing to mine the Bayou State for talent. Cornerback Terrell Bailey, from Marrero, LA, was offered this past weekend, and for what it's worth, although he has an offer from the Tigers, he grew up following the Aggies.

A second Louisiana offer went to New Orleans Brother Martin CB Tre Swilling. Swilling appears to have LSU in front of mind, but again, the Gamecocks are looking to establish territory and hopefully get some looks from players that might slip through the cracks or may not get significant attention from Les Miles and his staff.
