South Carolina QB recruit Tyler Shough named to Elite 11

Three-star quarterback Tyler Shough, who is one of the top South Carolina quarterback targets, was one of the top performers at the Elite 11 Finals this past weekend.
On Monday morning, Shough was one of 11 participants to land a spot in the 2017 Elite 11 class.
Last weekend’s event began with 25 of the nation’s top quarterbacks, including 4-star quarterback target Dakereon Joyner. Joyner was not named to the Elite 11 group that will participate in The Opening Finals later this month in Oregon.
According to the 247Sports composite, Shough is ranked as the No. 15 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018. South Carolina was scheduled to host him for a visit on June 8, but that trip has since been canceled. His stop by North Carolina has also been scratched.
Michigan and Indiana are also heavily involved for the 6-foot-4.5, 187-pound quarterback.
Shough visited South Carolina earlier this year and gave the visit high marks.
“I felt really welcome there,” he said. “Being able to talk with both coach (Will) Muschamp and (quarterbacks) coach (Kurt) Roper for a pretty good amount of time and talk about how I would fit with them, what they’re looking for and what they like about me.”
As a junior at Hamilton High School (Chandler, Ariz.), Shough completed 142 of 228 passes for 2,079 yards with 27 touchdowns.
