South Carolina recruits weigh in on Gamecocks QB Jake Bentley

Oct. 23, 2016

South Carolina’s decision to roll with Jake Bentley at quarterback was one of the most interesting storylines in the SEC this weekend.

SEC Country checked with several recruits to see what they thought about Bentley and his debut for the Gamecocks.

2018 ATH Jordyn Adams – Blythewood, S.C.

“I thought he did really well for it to be his first start. I see him forming into a really good quarterback throughout his career.”

2017 WR OrTre Smith – Mount Pleasant, S.C. (committed)

“He looks comfortable back there. He got the O moving.”

Jake Bentley started at quarterback on Saturday versus Massachusetts.

2017 OL Summie Carlay – Laurens, S.C. (committed)

“I thought he played great. I know that’s a big time situation for a guy who just came in a couple of months ago, but he couldn’t have handled it better. I also was impressed with how (Brandon) McIlwain and (Perry) Orth showed tremendous support for him. It goes to show the team first mindset that coach (Will) Muschamp is instilling in this team.”

2017 S Zay Brown – Athens, Ga. (committed)

“He played good, didn’t know he was a freshman. The way they got him and Brandon (McIlwain) rotating is good.”

2017 QB Jay Urich – Piedmont, S.C. (committed)

“I fee like he played a great game. It was fun to watch.”

Several commitments were active on Twitter when the Gamecocks took a 14-0 first quarter lead against Massachusetts.
