The 24 hour rule for enjoying the win over Georgia has not yet expired but USC coach Steve Spurrier is already moving on to the next ” biggest game ever” for his Gamecocks. Now ranked 3rd in the country, USC heads to LSU this Saturday night knowing that national championship talk will be abundant from the talking heads across the various platforms.
Spurrier, on his weekly conference call Sunday afternoon, said his team came out of the Georgia game in pretty good health. Akeem Auguste and Byron Jerideau suffered sprained ankles.
“We realize that if we won the game last night, which we did, this (high ranking) could happen. It just happened three, four and five got beat and we were sitting that at number six and beat number five. There are still six games left. We’re only halfway thru. All kind of bad stuff can happen to a lot of teams. I would say we probably have the toughest schedule of those other teams. But time will tell but we certainly like where we are right now but hopefully we’re smart enough to know its a difficult, difficult road for us.”
