How many times have we heard him say this year about Clowney..."We are going to shake his hand at the end of next year and send him on his way." Of course this is referring to him being a probable high draft pick and SOS has left no doubt that he expects him to go pro and is encouraging it in his Soph. year.
Now contrast that with some examples of other Head Coaches in this league and it really stands out. Let me give a couple here. Didn't Dabo play Willy Korn and Kyle Parker before they were fully healed from injuries and both played terribly and pretty much went down hill from there. Tommy Bowden ruined a great athelete's career in Roscoe Crosby by convincing him to play football when he wanted to go pro in baseball (he could have come back to CU at anytime for football if baseball didn't work out) then he gets injured twice (once each year) that he played and wound up not playing either sport. Also haven't both of them begged players to stay for their Senior year that wanted to leave early and some wanted to transfer and they both talked them out of it.
I don't mean to harp on CU but those are just some ones I remember. I know Saban doesn't try to talk his guys into staying past there Junior year when they are high draft prospects.
Anyway I just wanted to say that we have a great HC in Spurrier and I am so glad he came here and hopefully wants to coach for many more years.
