SpursUp Surveillance: Channing Tindall talks USC offer; coaches hit the road

Seven days ago, Muschamp relayed news of South Carolina offer to 2018 linebacker Channing Tindall, who attends nearby Spring Valley High School.
“The linebackers coach at South Carolina, coach (Coleman) Hutzler, texted me and told me to call him around 7,” Tindall said, “So I called him when I was done with my homework and he was telling me how he was impressed with my film and how he wanted someone to come talk to me on Monday with some great news.”
Muschamp then hopped on the line and passed along the word.
“I met him earlier during summer camp – I changed positions from d-end to linebacker since then,” Tindall said. “He said he liked my moves, my skills – all he wanted to do was see some film of me at linebacker.”
Below is some early season footage of the 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect.

“Now that he has film of me at linebacker, he would like to start off my Monday, basically telling me I have a scholarship to South Carolina,” Tindall said.
For someone who’s from Columbia and has gone to games at Williams-Brice Stadium since he was a 3-year-old, the news was met with plenty of excitement.
“Having the opportunity to play at my hometown has always been cool with me, so that scholarship means a lot to me,” Tindall said.
One of his favorite Williams-Brice memories is from a few years ago, when he was a seventh grader.
“This was when Todd Gurley and Jadeveon Clowney were playing. I was working the (concession stand) and we got to see the fourth quarter of the game,” Tindall said. “It was a night game … Todd Gurley scored near the end, but South Carolina still won the game. That was probably my favorite game.

“The crowd was so loud. I remember the crowd was so loud I couldn’t even hear. My ears, it was just a little noise coming from my ears.”
This fall, he’s been back for the ECU and Georgia games. His only other campus visit was to Georgia Tech when they hosted Miami.
Clemson and N.C. State are also in contact. And, for now, Coastal Carolina is his only other offer.
Tindall is planning to visit Clemson in November.
“I just want to get a feel for the schools and see what they have to offer,” he said. “I’ll probably make my choice based on where I feel more comfortable.”
Before last Friday’s game against River Bluff, Tindall had 65 tackles and 4 sacks.
Coaches on the road
Muschamp and running backs coach Bobby Bentley hit the state of North Carolina late last week to check in on a few recruits. That afternoon, they went by Concord High School, home of 4-star commitment Hamsah Nasirildeen and 4-star defensive tackle Rick Sandidge, a 2018 prospect.
Also on Thursday, Outside linebacker coach Mike Peterson was in Florida to check in on 3-star cornerback commitment Tavyn Jackson, who made a pair of second half interceptions in Rickards win over Wakulla.
