Gamecocks made the cut for 2017 DE
On Saturday night, South Carolina landed in the lead group for a pair of prospects, one from the 2017 class and another from the 2018 haul.
Michael Allen, a 3-star defensive end from Lanier High School in Buford, Ga., is the No. 21-ranked weak-side defensive end in the class of 2017. He is also the No. 37 overall prospect from the state of Georgia.
South Carolina made the cut, along three others from the SEC. Allen visited South Carolina earlier this spring. There is no word yet if he plans to be back at some point this week.
The 2018 target
Dyami Brown also has a spot on his list for South Carolina. The Gamecocks were listed at the bottom of the six-school list Brown tweeted on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound rising junior from West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, N.C. is ranked as the No. 6 athlete in the class of 2018. A 4-star, he is also the No. 116 overall prospect in the country.
Another cookout visitor
Next Saturday’s cookout list continues to grow. Over the weekend, SEC Country learned 2018 WR Demarcus Gregory will be back on campus for the event. The rising junior from Byrnes High School (Duncan, S.C.) was offered by the Gamecocks earlier this summer.
Here is a list of the other non-committed prospects confirmed by SEC Country as guests for Saturday’s cookout:
