Second CB offer at Woodland High
South Carolina continues to be involved with 4-star cornerback Yusuf Corker, the No. 32 ranked player at the position in the Class of 2017.
On Thursday, his teammate from Stockbridge High School (Woodland, Ga.), 2017 cornerback Shakur Brown, picked up offers from South Carolina and Tennessee.
“It felt great,” Brown said of the Gamecocks offer.
South Carolina and Tennessee joined Kentucky as the three SEC schools that have offered Brown. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect also has offers from Minnesota, Oregon State, Purdue and West Virginia.
Corker has offers from all three of those SEC schools and West Virginia. Since they now have several of the same options, the duo has discussed the possibility of playing at the next level.
“Every day he pushes me to be the best and I also push him, too,” Brown said.
They visited South Carolina in April for a junior day.
“I really loved it. It was like I was a part of the family already,” Brown said.
Skinny: Brown got word of the Gamecocks and Vols offers from his head coach. As of Thursday night, he had not been in touch with any of the coaches from the South Carolina staff. However, his coach did speak with Muschamp, who passed along news of the offer.
The latest on Corker
There have been a couple of different leaders for Corker, who last visited South Carolina in April for the cookout. He will not, however, be in Columbia next Saturday for this month’s cookout. In fact, Corker is probably done with visits until the fall.
The Gamecocks were listed as his leader after his trip for the April cookout, overtaking the previously favored Vols.
Now, he lists a top seven, with no order: South Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Kentucky.
Why does South Carolina occupy a spot on that list?
“The relationship that I have with the coaches the dorms and players,” Corker said.
Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson serves as the Gamecocks primary recruiter.
“He’s a great coach that shows a lot of emotion,” Corker said.
Skinny: Corker hasn’t taken a visit since his trip to Duke in early June. Because he doesn’t have anything scheduled for the foreseeable future, he’s probably not all that close to making a decision.

After doing some checking around on Thursday, OrTre Smith, the top overall in-state prospect for the 2017 class, has not decided where he’ll visit next Saturday.
Both South Carolina and Clemson are hosting exclusive, social recruiting events, which leaves the 4-star wide receiver from Wando High School (Mount Pleasant) with quite a decision to make.
Again, he’s still undecided on which school he’ll visit.
Skinny: At this point, it sounds like Smith is planning to visit one of the two schools. He certainly has the option of staying home or heading to another one of his favorites: North Carolina, Georgia or Florida.
