SpursUp Surveillance: Updating two key defensive back recruitsNov. 10, 2016
Versatile DB prospect returnsThree-star cornerback Yusuf Corker visited South Carolina on Saturday for the 31-21 win over Missouri. The No. 36-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2017 said he had a “great” trip.
“That was an amazing game they needed that (they) win,” Corker said.
Afterward, he caught up with Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson.
“Their need for DBs (is) based on how many people they are losing in the secondary next year,” Corker said, “And that I have a very good chance of starting early here if I come in and work.
“Also, that I can start at different positions in the secondary.”

Corker has also taken two unofficial visits to Tennessee and an unofficial to Virginia. His first official visit is set for the weekend of Nov. 19, to Michigan State. Vanderbilt will have him on campus the following weekend for official No. 2. The official visit to Kentucky is scheduled for the first weekend in December.
Right now, the Gamecocks are in the lead, but a decision won’t be announced until Christmas.
As a senior at Woodland High School in Stockbridge, Ga., Corker has 30 tackles and 5 interceptions.
Culpepper says Carolina still leadsAccording to a report from Phil Kornblut, South Carolina still leads for 3-star safety Naytron Culpepper. This comes a couple of weeks after his official visit to Columbia.
The No. 33-ranked safety in the Class of 2017 is scheduled to visit Michigan State the same weekend as Corker. Other visits to Maryland and Mississippi State, among others, are still in the process of being scheduled.
South Carolina’s message hasn’t changed since he was on campus.
