Statement from South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner:

LSU I bet is glad they did not inherited Jimbo with his 68M buyout. He is catching some heat what 6-3 second in his second season and the talent he has. While Big Ed Orgeron buyout is a mere 5M. Worked out good. Roll of the dice. Seems Gamecocks come up Snake eyes for the most part.

Tom Rinaldi on Gameday said this he mentioned most coaches are just too stubborn to change. But Ed Orgeron did change and now he’s coaching the number one team in college football. The piece also mentioned Coach O’s constants throughout his career have been his love for the game and his love for his players as he has finally opened his mind to the changes necessary to compete for championships. Hear that Boom take a nice look to Baton Rouge for guidance on how to run and make changes to a program.

Muschamp will continue to bring in very good recruits...
Tell that to App St. Good recruiting is a start....we both know what shows on the field is what matters. Our attrition rate is alarming.

Big Ed may turn out to be a better HC than Jimbo.

I'm all in for getting creative with this. An interim HC or some kind of trial period makes good financial sense to me in light of our emerging payout debacle.

Which is why I'm warming up to idea of flirting with the App St. coach.

This is his 1st season....high risk. Creative contract?
Yes.  Very true.  I'm sure his buyout is not too astronomical.  All I hear is that his players love him.  Could mean he comes in and bonds with the players right away and we have minimal attrition.  And considering his current salary we might get him on the cheap for the first year or two.

General Question: Would a win or loss against Texas A&M today change your current opinion of Will Muschamp and his staff?

A win agains A&M and a competitive game against Clemons. Or vice Versa would be even better. Would do the trick. He needs to show something for the fan base to come back into the Muschamp fold.

Haha.  I just texted my sister that 70 percent chance he's gone if we lose last 2 games and 30 percent he's gone if he can at least win one.  Sounds more like the way I feel about it than what I know for sure.

A win in either game would certainly help the defense's argument for keeping Will Muschamp, as thin as it would still be. Right now there is a mountain of evidence that changes need to be made but the biggest argument against a change is that we fire and change coaches on average every 4 years here and that such disruption only hurts you (I would argue until you get a homerun hire).

Me: Dammit, give us something to hang our hats on. We have to go to thanksgiving and Christmas this year and see family and friends some of which think the gamecocks will always suck. I need some firepower!

I’d like to see two competitive games, particularly with life on offense.

I can’t shake the feeling that it doesn’t matter because next year’s schedule isn’t much better.  Subtract Edwards and the Seniors and I’d expect more of the same.

The only possible solution would be to force a coordinator change with the understanding that Muschamp keeps his hands off the offense. I doubt Tanner and company have the stomach to do that.

Doesn't our motto "Wait til next year" give you any confidence?  If not, you're not alone.

Kind of embarrassing...not sure it would have been better to say nothing.
