Pro Wells
Last week USC offered Marshall commitment TE Provonsha (Pro) Wells 6.6" 217lbs of St. Petersburg, FL. Later this month he plans to take an official visit and there’s a good chance the Gamecocks will swing him their way.
“Most definitely there’s a chance,” said Wells. “The offer, it’s eye opening. It shows me that my talent is bigger than what I see and bigger than what we see here in St. Petersburg. They see me as a very big target, a guy that can get out there and play as soon as I get there.”
Wells played tight end, wide receiver, slot receiver and some quarterback this season. He had 983 receiving yards, 1300 all purpose yards and 8 touchdowns.
“They like my versatility,” he said. “They like how I can go after it and do what’s needed to be done. It (commitment to Marshall) is pretty strong but the South Carolina deal blew my mind away. I didn’t think an SEC school would come my way.”
And the reason for that, Wells said, is because this past season was his only season of high school football. He’s been a basketball player but was encouraged to play football and now knows that’s his ticket to the big time.
Wells is scheduled for official visits to UCF January 16th, Iowa State January 23rd and Marshall January 30th. He said he’s looking at switching out Iowa State for USC on the 23rd.
