2018 TE Gavin Schoenwald (6-5 225) of Nashville now has three SEC offers after picking one up from USC.  He has also been offered by Tennessee and Vanderbilt.  Schoenwald visited USC for the Missouri game where he talked with Will Muschamp, Pat Washington  and recruiter Bobby Bentley and was offered on Tuesday.

Schoenwald said he was introduced to Bentley when the Gamecocks were in Nashville to play Vanderbilt to open the season and the two have kept in touch.

“I love what they do with the tight end,” Schoenwald said.  “They never leave the field and that’s attractive to me.  They line him up on the line, they’ll flex him out at receiver or put him back at H-back.  Hurst is an extremely versatile kid and I think they see a little bit of him in me.  When they told me they wanted to extend an offer to me I was extremely excited for sure.”

Schoenwald actually flew in for his visit and the fact that he came in showed the Gamecocks how serious his interest in them is, and they showed him the same in return.

“The visit was great,” he said.  “There were 80-thousand fans and they were all rowdy.  I think that’s a program I’m really attracted to.  When you’re a little kid and go out in the front yard and play with your best friend and now  you’re in high school and now you have this opportunity to play in front of all these people who are just blood thirsty for Gamecock football, it’s just extremely attractive to me for sure.”

Schoenwald has also been to Auburn, Tennessee and North Carolina for games this season. He doesn’t have any future game visits planned but he might take one to Georgia.    He does plan to return to USC for a junior day next year.   He does not have a favorite.
