As the defensive line rebuild continues, there are several strong-side ends who have landed early offers from the Gamecocks, two of whom are a few hours from Williams-Brice Stadium.
Four-star DE Savion Jackson (Clayton, N.C.) is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 15 overall prospect in the country. One space behind him in the national rankings is Zacch Pickens, the top-ranked in-state prospect who’s out of T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson.
Jackson, who visited earlier this spring and landed an offer, was recently on campus for camp. It’s been a little while since Pickens’ last trip to see the Gamecocks.
South Carolina continues to pressure Georgia for 4-star tackle Rashad Cheney, who’s visited Columbia several times this spring, including one earlier this month for an OL/DL camp.
The Gamecocks have cast a wide net, offering more than 20 defensive linemen from the Class of 2019.

The offensive backfield
South Carolina offered its first 2019 quarterback earlier this month after Garrett Shrader threw in camp for offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound prospect from Charlotte Christian arrived to Columbia with offers from Louisville, Missouri and Penn State, among others.
Another 2019 quarterback to keep an eye on is Davis Beville, who led Greenville (S.C.) High School to a title in South Carolina’s first 7-on-7 tournament of the month. Beville returned a few days later for camp, with an eye on landing an offer, but he tweaked his hip while running the 40-yard-dash and had to call it a day.
Though the running back board is also taking shape, at least eight more offers have gone out at that position than quarterback.
The most recent one went to Mikey Dukes, a 5-foot-10, 191-pound prospect from First Baptist Church School in Charleston, S.C. Dukes has already made multiple visits to South Carolina.
2019 OL Warren McClendon is a cousin of South Carolina WR coach Bryan McClendon.

Four offensive linemen are scheduled to come off the books after the 2018 campaign, assuming that right tackle Zack Bailey doesn’t opt for an early departure for the NFL following the upcoming season.
With that in mind, South Carolina’s 2019 offensive line haul is projected to be at least three or four.
The Gamecocks have already offered more than 10 prospects, including 4-star tackles Michael Tarquin (Belleview, Fla.) and Warren McClendon (Brunswick, Ga.), both of whom have visited Columbia multiple times.
Kamren McCray, an in-state prospect out of Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, landed his first offer from South Carolina earlier in June.
