The final 2018 mock class
Feb. 06, 2018
Less than 24 hours before National Signing Day begins, SEC Country has the final mock South Carolina recruiting class for the 2018 haul.
The Gamecocks’ latest haul includes 20 signees, many of whom have already enrolled. Four spots remain, though SEC Country continues to list three public commitments.
Committed
Wonnum, the most-recent addition to the class, committed to South Carolina on Saturday over Auburn and Tennessee.
Heading into the start of the week, Thompson was expected to join him, but reports surfaced Mondayafternoon and word got out quickly that he would not sign with the Gamecocks on Wednesday.
Predicted to sign
While SEC Country already has predicted that Mincey and Sandidge will end up at South Carolina, we’ll leave them in this category.
Wonnum, of course, takes spot No. 21 in the class while Mincey and Sandidge are likely to be Nos. 22 and 23. That leaves one more opening for the Gamecocks in 2018.
To be determined
Thompson, who’s battled to become eligible, committed to South Carolina in December, citing his improved academic standing. Had the former Virginia Tech commitment not needed more time to qualify, he would have been on board much earlier as a Gamecocks commitment.
It remains to be seen what Jamison, an Irmo High School graduate, will do on Wednesday.
This much is certain for both prospects. They don’t have to sign on Wednesday. Frankly, it would be a surprise if that’s the route they take.
Though there are obvious differences, the main one being that Jamison is already at a junior college, so it’s possible for South Carolina to circle back, particularly with Thompson.
Thompson’s decision could go a couple of different ways, at least on the surface. One of those options is Marshall.
