My projection for the next 5 commits...in no particular order
1) DE Marquavius Lewis. The 6'4 270 pounder from Greenwood. Will be the Cherry or exclamation mark on the DE class and will likely make an immediate impact on the program as an early enrollee. Will challenge for a starting job from day one. Carolina will beat Auburn, Miami, and a plethora of others for his signature. Could perhaps be the most important recruit in the class, along with Dante Sawyer and Mark Fields.
2) RB Ty'Son Williams- just a few weeks ago, Williams was a longshot. Now he is trending Bigtime to the Gamecocks. If he is as good as some who have seen him play, he will make an early impact. Comparisons to Greg Welch really excite me, as I saw Welch play before his knee injury and felt he could have erased George Rogers from the Carolina record books. Carolina should beat UGA, Notre Dame, Wiconsin, and UNC for his commitment.
3) OG Zack Bailey- The Summerville product is the top Offensive Lineman in the state and is exactly what coach Elliott looks for, and athletic road grater that could play tackle but is better suited as a guard. Carolina should best Clemson, UGA , and Southern Cal for his commitment.
4) DB Carlton Davis - this south Florida prospect could be the most underrated player still on the board. I think he projects best as a FS, but Grady Brown, who knows better than me, likes him as another big,Corner. While I am extremely confident on the first three commits, this is more of an educated guess based on the fact that Davis plans to attend the showcase camp later this month. If Davis makes that visit, then I think Brown gets the commit either while he is on campus or shortly after he returns to Miami. Carolina would beat the hometown Hurricanes and Florida for his commitment .
The fifth commit is more uncertain. I think it will be LB Davon Durant if he is approved for mid year enrollment. If not, then LB Amonte Caban or an OT from either Jalen Merritt, Christian Pellage, or Matt Womack would be my pick.
Since WR Jerad Washington was added to the commit list, it appears unlikely that Irvin Charles winds up as a part of the class. also, it looks like Penn St, the longtime favorite will end up making room for him.
DT DJ Jones and Albert Huggins will both decide in December, so it's doubtful they will be one of the next five to commit, and I also think at the present time, Huggins is likely to Clemson. I still think Deke will have a chance to swing Jones, but it's not a given at this time.
