Thompson hopes to resolve his situation soon; Zanders sees USC ; USC keeping tabs on Middleton

March 30, 2018

The recruiting story on Dutch Fork ATH Bryce Thompson as it pertains to USC has not yet been totally written, but the end apparently is near.  Gamecock Central’s Wes Mitchell reported Thompson, who has been committed to the Gamecocks since December but has remained unsigned, would not be signed by Will Muschamp for the 2018 class.  Later, Lou Bezjak of The State reached Thompson and was told he would be meeting with USC defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson on Friday.  He said he also spoke with Muschamp this week.  Tennessee, Louisville and Marshall also have shown interest in Thompson who was a standout receiver and defensive back for the Silver Foxes.  Thompson told Bezjak he hopes to have his future plans settled in the next couple of days.

DB Lannden Zanders of Shelby, NC made visits to the Gamecocks earlier in the week.  “The visit to South Carolina was good,” Zanders said.  ‘I took a tour of the campus and  saw the facilities.   I talked to the head coach and he said that they’re gonna recruit me hard.”  USC has not yet offered.

DL James Middleton of Fort Dorchester and Jones County JC, MS said USC coach Will Muschamp has been checking up on him with his coach, and the reports to the Gamecock head coach have been favorable.  “”I’m doing good, getting back in shape. Started back running but I’m not 100%.”  Middleton suffered a broken leg late last season for the Patriots and has been rehabbing.  He enrolled at Jones in January and plans to get out in May of 2019.  “I know what I have to do to get where I need to go…get my grades back up.”  Middleton, who visited USC in December, said he’s still locked in on the Gamecocks as long as they want him.
