According to sources, South Carolina will not sign three-star running back Tyren Jones (Marietta, Ga./Hutchinson CC) due to academic issues. We are removing his name from the commitment list and he will not be a part of the 2016 signing class.
Jones, a former Alabama running back, was dismissed from the program following his redshirt freshman season. He spent the 2015 season at Hutchinson CC.
The Gamecocks have two running backs as a part of the 2016 class. Three-star tailback CJ Freeman enrolled at South Carolina in January and is currently on campus. Rico Dowdle (Asheville, N.C./AC Reynolds) will sign on Wednesday.
